Sirius and XM Offer New Concessions for Tiered Offerings

WASHINGTON, March 22, 2007 — With XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio facing questions from consumer groups and from social conservatives over the planned merger of the companies, the companies on Wednesday offered new concessions in their bid to consolidate.
Sirius CEO Mel Karmazin, who would be chief of the combined company, on Tuesday faced skeptical questioning from Sens. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and Sam Brownback, R-Kansas, over some of the company’s risqué content, including Howard Stern and the Playboy Channel.
